About This Project

In the Summer of 2018, I travelled to the north of Finland to attend a theater festival in Kaukonen village. Hiljaisuus Festivali, or as it’s known in English: Silence Festival, gathers the most interesting performances and artists from Finland and around the world, to Lapland. I was a photographer for the week-long festival which brings experimental theater makers, circus artists, and musicians together.

It was wonderful to be exposed to such different work, and in particular to meet circus artists, as well as experience work that took place outdoors, in a little home, or in a large garage. It goes to show that you don’t need much to make something great. Art can happen anywhere and any time, even at 3am in Finland’s Lapland where the sun doesn’t set.
